Endangered Species exhibit was a success! My First Year Seminar: Art and the Natural Environment classes installed their endangered species art and info templates in the Silver Center for the Arts at Plymouth State University with the goal of educating the audience on the cause of specific endangered species and what we can do to help. I developed this class to bring together the arts and sciences with a focus on protecting our natural environment.

Panel discussion Monday night!!!! The fall semester has been BUSY so far with lots of art awesomeness! PSU printmaking alumni Hannah Smith organized an alumni print folio over the summer titled :to make common . The folio is currently being exhibited at the PSU Lamson Library gallery. I created new work for the folio exchange while I was in Iceland, that work, titled "Jokull" can be seen here. Hannah also gave a lecture to the Cut, Carve, Etch printmaking class at PSU. It was wonderful for current print students to see what goodness print alumni have been to! Another PSU print alumni, Kristin Horan, also organized a print folio titled "The North East Arrives in the Mid West". The print folio was exhibited at the Mid American Print Council Conference just recently at Indiana University Southeast and the University of Louisville. My work for that folio Iceland, Island can be seen here. Artist Shandra Mclane and I went to the base of Mt. Washington last week to observe the Boundary Layer Project led by Eric Kesley (Director of Research, Mt. Washington Observatory and Assistant Professor, Plymouth State University). Kelsey and his research team are working on defining the boundary layer in the valley around Mt. Washington to the summit and above. Shani and I walked away with a better understanding of the project and ideas for our collaborative art piece that will be exhibited at the Museum of the White Mountains in Spring 2017. The exhibition focuses on climate change and water impact.
The truck is loaded up for Kelsey and his team to drive to the summit, the instruments attached to the truck will collect data as the truck travels up in elevation. The best roomies an artist could ask for in Iceland!
L-R Amber Brandsma, Fashion Designer from the Netherlands, amberbrandsma.com/#/home me John Teschendorff, Visual Artist and Professor from Australia Annette Seeman, Visual Artist and Professor from Australia Ah, the land of ice and fire was so inspirational. Active volcano under a glacier, sheep, mountains, rivers, oceans, islands. But the Jökulsárlón (glacier lagoon) in south Iceland was simply amazing. A glacier of this size is something I have been interested in experiencing since my Colorado days. It was overwhelming. The icebergs calving from the glacier and the lagoon that has developed since the 1950's is a solid example of climate change. This will be providing me inspiration for a while. The exhibition was a success! Very pleased with the work I made while in Iceland. Looking forward to returning soon, very inspirational environment for my work and the concepts I am working with in climate change.
