Working on a series of shoreline cyanotype prints while here in Iceland; work referencing the recording of sea level rise. And the beginnings of a really large silkscreen print of a 360° view of Skagastrond with 24 hours of daylight. I am working on a variety of pieces in the printmaking medium while in Iceland. My goal is to complete three folio exchange editions and a body of work for my exhibition at the Museum of the White Mountains in Plymouth, NH in Spring 2017. My work is focusing on climate change in relation to Icelandic sea level rise, algae impacts, and glacial retreat. Here is a sneak peak into work just started.
I made it to Iceland! Skagastrond will be my home for the next month as I work at the NES Artist Residency alongside 15 or so other artists. Very view is breathtaking!
neslist.is Work is being shipped out to a variety of exciting places, Indiana University, Idaho State University, and this edition of 30 that I recently finished is heading to Denver. And Rock Tripe Lichen is on it's way to Indiana University for an Art + Science exhibition.
Work and warm weather continues at the JTHAR residency and in Joshua Tree. I am falling in love with this little artsy town. Dusty, Good People, Hot Springs, and Crazy Cacti. Three artists are working at the residency during the month of January. There is also another residency in town, BOXO. We all had a chance to get together for a potluck dinner and studio talk with the board of directors, good times! Artists from L-R Angus McCullough (BOXO), me, Erika Mahr, Jason Mitcham My Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency adventure begins in Joshua Tree, CA! Seeing the Mojave desert, the famous Joshua Tree and unique cacti, and the national park has been on my inspiration list. I am looking forward to working in this environment over the next month. The JTHAR team has been wonderful already, very welcoming and providing a fantastic studio space and housing accommodations. Test printing one of Peter Hermansson's 3D glass relief bullets before it was blown out into the finished vessel. Another way of vitreography printing?
